The Ultimates are a state-sponsored, LuthorCorp-managed superhuman response team operating within the United States and allied territories. Publicly presented as the next evolution of superhero coordination—surpassing both the Justice League and the Avengers—the Ultimates serve as a unified, rapid-response force addressing metahuman, extraterrestrial, and global-scale threats. Privately, the team is the cornerstone of Lex Luthor’s long-term objective: the consolidation, regulation, and redefinition of superhuman activity under centralized authority. With the exception of Luthor himself, all members operate under classified identities, reinforcing the notion that the Ultimates are not individuals, but components of a larger system.
