Elder Gods
Born from the Demiurge, the Earth's Elder Gods were purportedly its first lifeforms. Nearly all of them became demons, and in a war among themselves, they were purged by the God-Eater Demogorge. A few are known to have survived the culling: Set, Chthon, Gaea, Oshtur, etc. The demonic Set and Chthon fled to other dimensions to escape the Demogorge's wrath. Banished from Earth, they seek to return but are opposed by Gaea and Oshtur, the two who were never corrupted. Additionally, five Elder Gods dwell in Utgard: the Utgard-Loki, Toranos, Kemur, Mejed, and Nrgl. They have been sealed there since the Elder God culling, but Gaea recently opened the gate to Utgard.
Lords of Chaos
The Lords of Chaos are higher magical beings of power representing chaos. Often acting through empowering their agents and followers of their Chaos Magic, their eternal opponents are the Lords of Order, their cosmic opposites, as they work to bring about a period where chaos reigns supreme, also known as the "kali yuga".
Heavenly Hosts
Heavenly Hosts
Heaven is an eternal realm that is the home of the Angels that, alongside the Spectre, serve and enforce the will of the omnipotent Presence. It exists outside the Orrery of Worlds in the Multiverse. In many of Earth's monotheistic religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam, etc.), as well as in Zoroastrianism, angels are believed to be guardians of mankind and messengers of God. During the Hyborian Age, the Zoroastrian God Mithra, under his name Mitra and monotheistic worship, was told to command to a Heavenly Host of angels and saints, while the worship of Erlik and of the Tarim involved angels as well (playing lyres in the "Garden of Tarim"), including the Sea-God. Angels are a race of celestial beings and children of the Almighty Presence, who were created as the soldiers of Heaven and defenders of mankind.
Angels are angelic beings from Elysium, a sector of Heaven. They have a variety of jobs from messengers, to hunters, to lawyers and legal activities. Angels have been used by God for thousands of years in a war against Hell and Demons. Angels that refused to participate in this war were exiled and are called the Forgotten Ones. Additionally a the seraphim are strong class of angels. When a Hellspawn is born in the living realm, they are monitored for threat levels. When they reach a high enough threat level, a Redeemer is chosen on earth and imbued with Elemental Fire to dispatch of the Hellspawn.
Hell Dimensions
Wizards & Sorcerers
A magician, also known as a mage, warlock, witch, wizard/wizardess, enchanter/enchantress, sorcerer/sorceress or spell caster,[2] is someone who uses or practices magic derived from supernatural, occult, or arcane sources.
Magic can also require various sacrifices or the use of certain materials, such as gemstones, blood, or a live sacrifice. Even if the magician lacks scruples, obtaining the material may be difficult. The magician expends power to fuel his spells, but does not replenish that power naturally; therefore, he must make sacrifices to generate more magical power.
The extent of a wizard's knowledge is limited to which spells a wizard knows and can cast. Magic may also be limited by its danger; if a powerful spell can cause grave harm if miscast, wizards are likely to be wary of using it. Other forms of magic are limited by consequences that, while not inherently dangerous, are at least undesirable.
People who work magic are called by several names in fantasy works, and terminology differs widely from one fantasy world to another. While derived from real-world vocabulary, the terms wizard, witch, warlock, enchanter/enchantress, sorcerer(ess), druid(ess), magician, mage, and magus have different meanings depending upon context and the story in question.
The term archmage is used in fantasy works as a title for a powerful magician or a leader of magicians. A common motif in fiction is that the ability to use magic is innate and often rare, or gained through a large amount of study and practice.
Magicians normally learn spells by reading ancient tomes called grimoires, which may have magical properties of their own. Sorcerers in the Hyborean Age often gained powers from such books, which are demarcated by their strange bindings. In worlds where magic is not an innate trait, the scarcity of these strange books may be a facet of the story; in Poul Anderson's A Midsummer Tempest, Prince Rupert seeks out the books of the magician Prospero to learn magic. The same occurs in the Dungeons and Dragons-based novel series Dragonlance Chronicles, wherein Raistlin Majere seeks out the books of the sorcerer Fistandantilus.
Some magicians, even after training, continue their education by learning more spells, inventing new ones (and new magical objects), or rediscovering ancient spells, beings, or objects. For example, Dr. Strange continues to learn about magic even after being named Sorcerer Supreme. He often encounters creatures that haven't been seen for centuries or more. In the same universe, Dr. Doom continues to pursue magical knowledge after mastering it by combining magic with science.
Homo Magi (also called Homo Magus) is a sub-race of naturally magic-wielding humans. According to Doctor Mist, the Homo Magi evolved in a parallel but separate line, alongside Homo Sapiens.[2] Homo Magi are naturally adept at magic; since many humans possesses the Homo Magi gene because of their relationships in the distant past, these humans can learn to use indirect magic by performing rituals, but pure Homo Magi or their direct descendants can use direct magic.
The Homo Magi have existed for as long as the human race, but due to their special abilities, they did not expand as the Homo Sapiens did. Eventually, they started to interbreed with normal humans, resulting in many generations of Homo Magi / Homo Sapiens hybrids. As the number of pure Homo Magi dwindled, they decided to go into hiding.
Lilin
{| border="1" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0"
The Lilin were a group of demons that were the spawn of Lilith the Mother of Demons.
|
When Lilith escaped the Levathian's stomach, she prepared to start her quest for demons to rule the world. With one of here Lilin, Pilgrim, they went out to seek other Lilin to join the fight. They would soon find a converted Creed, and the vicious arch enemy of Ghost Rider, Blackout who turned out to be Lilith's grandson. The first Lilin attack started at Johnny Blaze's carnival where Blaze's family were threatened. During this conflict, Ghost Rider and Blaze defeated the Lilin the first fight leaving Creed dead. After the defeat, The Lilin went to NYC to find the other Lilins Fang and Nakota at the Limelight, and poison Morbius with Lilin blood.
|
They would later have the Lilin Doc in the mix after a meeting alliance with the Darkholders, and later reunite with the Deadliest Lilin known as Skinner. Skinner proved a deadly match for Blaze but Skinner was defeated by both Blaze and Ghost Rider in the end. Soon Lilith in disguises would make the Nightstalkers kill Ghost Rider and Blaze with the Lilin Meatmarket would join the mix and spy on the Nightstalkers to make sure they killed Ghost Rider and Blaze. Meatmarket was later spotted and was killed by both the Spirits of Vengeance and the Nightstalkers. Lilin grieved over Meatmarket's death.
|
Later on, The Lilin would go to Greenland where Meatmarket was brought back to life and where Lilith would bring out all of her demon children. The Lilin would then take the fight with the Midnight Sons. In the battle Lilith brought forth a Lilin version of Daniel Ketch, and Pilgrim open a void in Lilith's chest to bring forth the demons. In the battle, Meatmarket died due to a blow to the head by Victoria Montesi and a series of guns shots by Sam Bucanion, Morbius knocked out Doc and drained the blood of Fang, The Lilin Dan Ketch killed Pilgrim by cutting a void into Pilgrim's chest, Blackout was slain by Blade, and Lilith was jammed into her own stomach. After the battle, Nakota was the only survivor but was eaten by Lilith to survive.
|
Months later the Lilin would return from the death after being eaten by Lilith and being reborn by the help of the Lilin Outcast. At this point they would join Centurious in a task to kill Ghost Rider and get the Medallion of Power. Soon the Lilin Parasite would control the dead boy of Martine, Morbiuss ex-girl friend in order to free Bloodthirst. The Lilin Short Circuit was also set loose but was killed by the Nightstalkers. The Lilin would later betray Centurious after the return of Zarathos. But they were defeated by the Spirits of Vengeance and sent to the Shadowside Dimension.
|
The Lilin would escape the Shadowside Dimension in greater numbers and rage chaos with Zarathos on their side. This would be their most brutal attack known as the Siege of Darkness. During this time, the Lilin possessed Morbius(Bloodthirst) would kill Louise Hastings, Doctor Strange's mansion was destroyed, the Lilin Pixil tried to spree Lilin forces all over the electronic world, and most of all destroy the Midnight Sons and take over the world. They would soon be defeated by the Spirits of Vengence again by the magic of the Medallion of Power and both Lilith and all the Lilin were sent back to the Shadowside Dimension. Soon Zarathos and the Fallen would proceed during the Siege of Darkness. Back in the Shadowside Dimension, the Lilin tried to escape it by using the cloth of Devil-Slayer but failed.
|-
The only Lilin to not be trapped in the Shadowside Dimension were Sister Nil, Parasite, Bloodthirst, Skinner, and Blackout. Sister Nil would keep Doctor Strange company in another dimension but later would be watched by Doctor Strange back in the real world. At this point she wanted to fit in with the human world. Parasite was killed by ex Fallen member Embyree after escaping her host Martine when trying to attack Morbius. Bloodthirst would be released from Morbius's body but was soon killed by Morbius after a fight in the hospital. Skinner was at a facility called the Blackhole where he encountered Ghost Rider only to be defeated. Blackout would meet with defeat at the hands of Ghost Rider who attached him to a building to burn in the painful sun. But he would later come back and join forces with both The Hood's gang as well as joining the dark angel Zadkiel in his mission to stop Ghost Rider once again.

Un-Men
Un-Men are artificial creatures made from spare cadaver parts and brought to life through a collaboration of scientific and magical techniques. So far, only three scientists have been able to create Un-Men effectively.
Anton Arcane was the creator of he very first Un-Men. He first experimented with the dead bodies of Allied Soldiers when he was working for the Nazi's in World War II. His ultimate goal was to discover the secret to immortality. He instead discovered a crude manner of creating life in stitched up corpses and artificial bodies. He used his Un-Men for a combination of purposes. Some he used for further experimentation. Others, he used as servants and lab assistants in Castle Arcane. He also used his Un-Men as soldiers to attack those who crossed him. At one point, Arcane even turned his half dead brother into an Un-Man to save his life (Gregori Arcane was later known as the Patchwork Man, and encountered his brothers greatest foe, the Swamp Thing, on multiple occasions). Arcane's Un-Men have saved his life on multiple occasions. They collected his body from the mountainside of Castle Arcane after he had fallen out of his window while battling the Swamp Thing. They surgically removed his brain and placed it inside of an Un-Man body in order to keep him alive. They later dug Arcane's brain out of his Louisiana grave site and attached it to a newer Un-Man body after his second battle with the Swamp Thing. Despite their unquestioning loyalty and frequent usefulness, Arcane treated his Un-Men horrendously. He chained them up in the prison cells and basements of Castle Arcane when he found no use for them. When Arcane returned to earth in the form of a demon, he had outgrown his artificial monsters and relied solely on his hellish powers.
Cranius is a surviving 1st generation Un-Man created by Anton Arcane. He is a small creature that looks like a head sewn onto a hand. He was a witness to Arcane and the Swamp Thing's first two battles. However, during the second battle, undead spirits hypnotized Arcane's Un-Men, revealing to them their lonely status. The Un-Men revolted and tore Arcane's body into pieces. After this battle, Cranius disappeared for over two decades. He later resurfaced as the head and creator of UnCorp, a company run by Un-Men. He created the alias, Dr. Von Schadel and began working on new Un-Men of his own personal design, but based on the originals created by Anton Arcane. Cranius' Un-Men were much more human like, even to the point that they looked more like mythical creatures and less like horrible monsters. His favorite Un-Man creation, Neko Parish, looks like a beautiful young woman with only one arm and angel wings on her back.
The Blood
The Blood are a group of beings that came together before Atlantis, serving as allies to the original Spirits of Vengeance. Their primary purpose was to guard the Medallion of power and keep it from being like Zarathos, Who sought to use the Medallion for their own purposes. When Zarathos succeeded in temporarily gaining possession of the Medallion, The Blood united with the Spirits of Vengeance and mounted a last-ditch effort to retrieve the Medallion. During the battle the Spirits of Vengeance where trapped along side Zarathos in the Medallion of Power. The Medallion became so powerful that no one individual could be entrusted with it, The Blood decided to brake the Medallion in to pieces and place bound them to the souls of two human families. One of the eldest members of the Blood was given the ask of watching over the two families, he was named the Caretaker.
After these events the Blood started to splinter and go their separate ways, some began to worship Zarathos, they became known as the Fallen. Some went into hiding in the most remote parts in the world and would only come out when called these where known as the Hidden. the remaining members of the Blood appointed Regent as their new leader. After Lilith and her children revived Zarathos, the Blood once more came back together but they could not beat the combined forces of Zarathos and his followers, so like they did all those years a go they allied themselves with The Spirits of Vengeance but this time it came in the form of Ghost Rider [Dan Ketch] who was also part of a team intent on stopping Zarathos, The Midnight Sons.
They manged to defeat Zarathos and the Fallen but it came at a cost, many of the Blood had died including two of the eldest members Embyree and Raydar. The remainder of the group once again went their seperate ways and went back into hiding waiting to be called up on again.
Un-Men
Un-Men are artificial creatures made from spare cadaver parts and brought to life through a collaboration of scientific and magical techniques.
Wizards & Sorcerers
Lilin
A magician, also known as a mage, warlock, witch, wizard/wizardess, enchanter/enchantress, sorcerer/sorceress or spell caster,[2] is someone who uses or practices magic derived from supernatural, occult, or arcane sources.
The Lilin were a group of demons that were the spawn of Lilith the Mother of Demons.
The term archmage is used in fantasy works as a title for a powerful magician or a leader of magicians. A common motif in fiction is that the ability to use magic is innate and often rare, or gained through a large amount of study and practice.
Hell Dimensions
Hell is an alternate plane of reality, traditionally accessible only by those of demonic heritage, beings of a higher order and those whose souls have been barred from entering the gates of either Heaven or Purgatory. After the archangel Lucifer Morningstar had led a rebellion and started a war in Heaven, he and his rebel angels who had taken his side were banished to Hell, which was empty at this point in time. Eventually the souls of deceased humans began showing up, drawn to the realm due to their own guilt. Having never been so close to a human before, Lucifer began experimenting with them. He took them apart, wanting to examine his Father's creations closely in order to see how they worked. Due to Lucifer's brutal methods of examination, these became the first tortures in Hell.
During the events of Reign in Hell, the Underworld is thrown into a massive conflict as Neron sees a rebellion from Lady Blaze and Lord Satanus. Neron soon found that this rebellion was more dangerous than all of the others, for the demon siblings were offering the damned something that he never could: hope of release from Hell. Recognizing what would happen if the damned ever rose up against him, Neron had Lilith the Mother of Monsters summon all demons on Earth to return to Hell and aid him.
Hellspawn
The Hellspawn are controlled by Malebolgia, the supreme master of Hell, and are mainly used as an officer corps for his army of hell, although they were not created by Malebolgia and existed before him. Hellspawns are infused with dark energy, called necroplasm, when they are created, but this power is finite when outside of hell.
Most Hellspawns were once human, but were tricked into making a bargain with Malebolgia; He would agree to return them to Earth, if they promise to return later on and become a Lieutenant in his army of Hell. This deal usually backfires on the person, as Malebolgia normally sends them several years (or decades) into the future, after their deaths and clad in the Hellspawn's symbiotic armor. Their time on Earth is also limited, as it is tied to their limited energy source. Each time a hellspawn uses his powers outside of Hell, the clock which represents his energy, counts down by one click. When the clock reaches zero, the hellspawn will automatically return to hell.
Creatures powered by, or users of, magic. Either born with it, or turned into what they are now, these beings are a fact of life, even if they hide their existence from the mortals, these beings tend to fuel the realms of fantasy... or horror.

Lords of Order

The Lords of Order are a group of magic beings possessing nearly unlimited power. They grant their agents the authority to act on their behalf, serving as a counterforce to the Lords of Chaos, as both are engaged in a constant struggle for universal supremacy and the direction of raw magic.

Lycanthropes

Werewolves are cursed humans with the ability to shape-shift into wolves or anthropomorphic wolves (lycanthropy). Their appearance is often associated with lunar cycles.
Throughout human history there have been tales of humans metamorphosing into beasts of the night, usually through means of sin or black magic. Predominantly in Eastern Europe however, the recurring theme drawn out is of a man infected with a curse than turns him into a shadow of his former self; a veritable monster who salivates for the kill and howls at the moon like a wild dog. Modern takes on the legend suggest that werewolves are in fact caused by a rabies-like virus being passed through victims in scratches and bites, slowly turning them in the space of a month into werewolves themselves. In some types - or breeds - of werewolves, the disease can actually be transmitted from parent to child.
The standard werewolf resembles an enlarged and rabid looking wolf standing on two legs with dexterous front paws and defined musculature resembling that of a human. Sometimes a tail is present. However, different types of werewolves exist, much like different dog breeds exist. Some resemble humans with fur on their bodies, while others fully transform into wolf-like creatures, running around and hunting on four limbs like a true wolf would.
Over time, it is possible for a human to learn control over their transformations, but, much like Dr. Jekyll/ Mr. Hyde, the beast emerges, usually in a stressful situation or through influence of the moon or even certain spell chants.
Despite being eternal enemies with vampires, werewolves are linked to them by way of ancient legends, stating that the body of a werewolf would return as a vampire if not blessed and decapitated prior to burial.

Undead

Undeath is a state in which mortal beings that are deceased behave as if they were alive. A common example of an undead being is a corpse reanimated by supernatural forces, by the application of either the deceased's own life force or that of another being (such as a demon). The undead may be incorporeal (ghosts) or corporeal (mummies, vampires and zombies).
The undead are featured in the belief systems of most cultures, and appear in many works of fantasy and horror fiction. The term is also occasionally used for putative non-supernatural cases of re-animation, from early experiments like Robert E. Cornish's to future sciences such as chemical brain preservation and cryonics.

Vampires

The modern day term "vampire" most likely derived from Slavic origins. The Serbian word "vampir" was incorporated into the German language, then to the French as "vampyre" and finally into the English "vampire." These undead horrors have various abilities and powers depending on folklore and place of origin; literature and cinema have also had a lot of influence on the vampire image. According to Eastern European folklore, the dead become vampires because demons or evil spirits enter the bodies. Vampires are also said to be dead werewolves, witches, criminals, suicides, and heretics: persons whose beliefs are contrary to the church doctrine. Again, sources vary, but a victim of the vampire's bite typically rises again as a vampire after dying.
Vampires often possess higher physical strength, dexterity and sharper senses than their mortal prey. Some may have the ability to take the form of a bat, wolf, rat or mist/smoke. The vampire can influence some animals - typically wolves, bats and rats. They can scale vertical surfaces and can use an uncanny hold on a victim through their mesmeric gaze. If a vampire has a masterly hold on a human victim, it may be using said victim over a period time as a constant source of nourishment.
Weaknesses include silver and sometimes iron which will cause the vampire pain. Similarly in some traditions, the wood of the hawthorn tree, which has Biblical roots, will also harm a vampire. Holy religious symbols can be used to hold the creatures at bay. Vampires also seem intolerant to garlic. Vampires, being nocturnal beasts, cannot function in sunlight; indeed, exposure is fatal in most folklore and adaptations. Some vampires cannot cross running water, and most can only enter a property if personally invited inside.
Burying a victim face down or placing poppy seeds in the grave of the deceased will, according to legend, prevent the resulting vampire from rising.
If nosferatu can be tracked down to its lair, generally the place they where buried - a tomb, grave, mausoleum, or even family estate - they can be disposed of traditionally with a wooden stake through the heart. Severing the head will assure destruction.
After The Convergence, many worlds became one, meaning several different strains of vampirism exist.. moreso than there were in any individual worlds before. Demonic vampires from the Hellmouth, vampires cursed by God, descended from Cain, and ancient vampires born from the Darkhold and the power of the Elder Gods all coexist. Their secret societies at odds with each others, the only thing having so far stopped an outright war is their need to stay hidden from the general public. There is no official Masquerade in place, but in a world where vampires now have to worry about Superheroes on top of regular Hunters, not exposing themselves is the best way to make sure they don't get the attention of the Slayer, the Daywalker.. or Superman.

Darkhold Vampires

Vampires made from the Darkhold typically have enhanced strength, speed, and regenerative abilities. Their weaknesses vary from writer to writer, but generally sunlight and decapitation are the constant methods of killing a vampire. These vampires also seem to be able to shift from a human (albeit pale) form to a demonic form (with red eyes, fangs, claws, and change in skin color). Vampirism in this comic universe is most often perceived like an infection and sometimes able to be cured via magic or particularly strong willpower.
Though different tribes of vampires appeared sporadically throughout the years, the so-called Death of Dracula revealed that the different species of vampires are organized into sects and every hundred years the sects converge under the leadership of Dracula for a conference on an ancient Greek island discovered following the sinking of Atlantis. The sects attending the most recent gathering are the Krieger, Claw, Charniputra, Mystikos, Anchorite, Pureblood, Tryk, Nosferatu, Atlantean, Moksha, and Siren Sects.
The sects absent from the gathering are: the Adze of Guyana, Africa, who do not succumb to the normally fatal weaknesses of a vampire until 10 minutes afterwards; the Ancients of Italy, who possess superior speed and healing; and the Yiki Onna of Japan, who can transform into razor-sharp clouds of ice instead of mist.

Cainites

Given the "Mark of Cain" for his murder of his brother Abel, Cain lost his memory. Wandering in a desert, he came across a dying woman, also cast from Heaven, and found himself with a need to feed upon her. He drank her blood, confused as to how she knew his name, but had an instinctual knowledge of how to feed without actually killing her, leaving her alive enough to rise again, which she did as his bride, Lilith, Mother of Monsters. He also became stronger as a result of feeding.
After turning hundreds to their vampiric "children," Cain and Lilith came across a cult of vampire hunters. When she succumbed to her rage and loss, Lilith transformed into the first beast. Though they thought they killed all of the vampire hunters, enough survived to found the Order of the Van Helsings.
After a time of living like monstrous monarchs, they were met by a demon who had come to take back the power that they had got. Though he could not be killed, the Demon took the souls of all of those he had turned, including Lilith. He was promised, on that night, that if he fed just once upon a truly innocent soul, he would be cursed to spend his days locked in a vacuum of nothingness, eternally.

Maloker's Vampires

These vampires are undead beings whose souls have been replaced with demons. These demons share all of the same memories as the original living being and essentially become a conscienceless, murderous version of that person. They are capable of transforming themselves back and forth from a human appearance and their vampire form, which includes a mouth full of fangs, yellow eyes and facial ridges. Exceptionally old vampires like the Master lose this ability and appear always with more demonic vampire features.
Vampires in this continuity have super-strength, speed, stamina, agility, reflexes, acute sensory perception, rapid healing, and immortality. Some vampires display other psychic abilities. They possess all of the traditional weaknesses of vampires, including wooden stakes to the heart, holy symbols, sunlight, fire and decapitation. Upon death, their bodies immediately deteriorate into dust. Conventional things like bullets will not kill them but will hurt them for a time until they heal from the injuries at an accelerated rate.
The method of turning someone into a vampire involves draining them of their own blood and feeding them the blood of a vampire. The person will then die and rise later as a vampire.

Lilin
