Great Lakes Avengers/X-Men

A superhero team originally based out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; then moved to Detroit, Michigan. They are the Midwest's greatest defenders. They are also the Midwest's only defenders. After Mr. Immortal discovered his powers after failing to killing himself, he decided to become a superhero and join a team of like-minded people. After placing a personal ad in a local newspaper, Mr. Immortal was joined by Big Bertha, Dinah Soar, Doorman and Flatman to make the Great Lakes Avengers. They also attracted the attention of a sexual deviant known only as Leather Boy who completely misunderstood the ad.
The Great Lakes Avengers have undergone many changes in their few scattered appearances. Mostly name changes. Fluctuating between different names almost every appearance, they also been known as the Lightning Rods, Great Lakes X-Men, Great Lakes Defenders, Great Lakes Champions and mostly recently as part of the Initiative under the name Great Lakes Initiative. The team line-up has mostly remained the same with the only major addition being Squirrel Girl. Other members of note include Hawkeye, Mockingbird and honorary member Deadpool.

X-Statix

After the original X-Force seemed to sacrifice themselves, producer Spike Freeman thought up an idea to have a public mutant team with government backing, under the management of Coach.

Most of the original members were killed, especially in a disastrous mission trying to save the 'boy band' pop group Boyz R' Us from kidnappers. This was secretly planned by Coach and Zeitgeist, who felt the body count and changing rosters would add interest. Zeitgeist was regretful though, and ended up being one of the members killed, and only U-Go Girl and the recent recruit Anarchist survived.

Based on those two and on Mister Sensitive, a new roster was set up. The team also quickly fight with the original X-Force, led by Domino, for the name of the team.

Under the Orphan (Mister Sensitive)'s lead, the team started act also in a less interested way, saving a mutant child, Paco Perez, from military interest and disobeying to the Coach.

When U-Go Girl, was captured by Zeitgeist and his team, the X-Cellent for her powers. The team was needed to reunite. Dead Girl and Doop grabbed the once-dead Mister Sensitive and Vivisector. They moved on to some of their teammates children. The A, son of Anarchist, and Phatty, daughter of Phat, were both recruited.

O-Force

The team was said to be created for a reality television show where mutants compete for a place in the O-Force team. Three of the trainees Oracle, Oink, and Orifice were only pictured in a single panel and did not later appear with the team because they din't make the team.

The O-Force television show airs with the mutants being Overkill, Orchid, Optoman, and Ozone. They compete in a fight onscreen, with Optoman taking the brunt of it. Later, as the team is assembled a video is shown across the nation of a practice mission. O-Force's first mission is to rescue a group of actors from a mansion filled with gunmen. X-Statix does not believe the mission is anything more then a set-up to make the actors and O-Force look good. This is confirmed by the thought bubbles of Solomon O'Sullivan, O-Force's agent. Then gunmen who threaten the actors then are later slaughtered to a man, wear the same uniform as the ones who killed many members of X-Statix before.

It is announced on television that O-Force's next mission will be to take back a small town from the control of a reality-altering mutant named Arnie Lundberg. As Solomon briefs his tea, the Orphan breaks in tries to warn them. He is attacked and beaten by the team. They decided to go anyway.

The initial attack goes badly. An army of the undead, raised by Arnie, attacks the team. Ocean's legs are blown off. She begs Overkill for help but he abandons her. The Orphan parachutes in and saves Ocean. The rest of X-Statix quickly arrive as backup, thus saving the lives of O-Force. Arnie Lundberg is convinced to use his powers for good and heals Ocean's legs and the team is carted off by the ambulances.

Thunderiders

The Thunderiders are mutants that travel and perform as motorcycle race and stunt riders. They were formerly known as Team America. Each member of the team is psychically linked to one another and can transfer all of their abilities and knowledge into one host body. This host body takes the form of The Black Marauder or Dark Rider. They originally called themselves Team America. At one time Professor X led the team on missions.

Gen-Actives

Dr. Simon Tsung worked for Project: Genesis, a project run by International Operations for national defense. While there he discovered the Gen-factor, an unusual compound in the body of Ethan McCain, a reincarnation of the extra-dimensional, Sigma. Tsung left I.O. when he discovered it's leader Miles Craven had his own motive and wanted to use the Gen-Factor for military applications. Tsung's work was continued by his assistant Gabriel Newman where the Gen-Factor went through many stages of limited success and many failures, before being perfected. The Gen-Factor was successfully integrated into humans with it's 12th Generation and the Elite Operations Team, Team 7.

The powers that each Gen-Active receives, seems to be random. After exposure to the Gen Factor most of the Team 7 began to display strong telepathic and telekinetic powers as well as some healing factor. Their children however have displayed very different and unique abilities.

The telepathic link to each other is usually very weak, even unnoticeable to most. The link however is stronger between relatives and can sometimes feel when they are in extreme pain. The link also allows sensitive Gen-Actives to notice the presence of other Gen-Actives. The link is also seen making the sum of their powers greater when they are near each other.

Project: Genesis was restarted 15-20 years later with the children of the original Gen 12 experiments. Craven hoped that the younger subjects would be easier to control, and because they were born with the Gen-Factor their powers would be more stable. Other children exposed to the Gen-Factor were recruited as well. All of the test subjects were labelled as Gen 13, but only a small group of Gen-Actives lead by John Lynch of Team 7 used it. Another group of Deviants took the name DV8 (or Deviate). After the supposed death of the original Gen 13 tean, a second group took their name.

Cyber Force

Cyber Force is a superhero team consisting mostly of mutants. The mutants were experimented on and gained cybernetic implants which granted them new and improved powers. The members of Cyber Force were all captured by an enormous corporation bent on world domination named Cyberdata. Cyberdata was run by various scientists who experimented on the captured mutants. The scientists had developed a new technology, known by acronym S.H.O.C., or Special Hazardous Operation Cyborg. They applied the new technology on the mutants, enhancing their powers, but damaging them mentally. The experimented mutants had had enough and escaped the clutches of Cyberdata. They then banded together to form Cyber Force, with their primary goal being the takedown of Cyberdata.
