Terminology

Below is a list of concepts and terms used in the Habatake Go setting, as a quick reference guide. These terms come up in the setting and a way to quickly grasp them should be helpful. The Technology Terminology section has gotten a bit long, so it will have its own entry, as will the Mecha Terminology.

Power Sources

G-Stone: The G-Stone is an energy source developed on the Green Planet by the "Green Planet's Protector," Cain, to emulate the natural Zonder-purifying powers of his newborn son, Latio. The resulting green gemstone is capable of converting courage into life force, which can be converted into power using the GS-Ride. When crystallized in a large enough form (known as a G-Crystal), it also produces an aura of power known as the Genesic Aura.

Getter Rays: Getter Rays are the power of evolution. Their arrival on Earth is what caused the dinosaurs to go extinct, and force their survivors underground, as well as allowed primitive Man to crawl out of the primordial ooze and grow into the human animal we know today. Getter rays are invisible and undetectable to regular science, until Professor Saotome found a way to see them. A single Getter particle can power Japan for an entire year, but that is the least of its function. Getter Rays exist in every parallel universe, and their most advanced forms have never been seen. What IS known about them is that they can evolve a life form over time, allow for near unlimited energy to any mechanical system, and literally bend the laws of physics. Many things occur around and because of Getter Rays which no one can actually explain.

GN Particles: Unlike standard-flavor particles of the same class, GN Particles are decayed baryons like muons, boson w. particles, and photons. it is responsive to an unspecified machine-producible interactive force, thus exploited by Celestial Being for a variety of uses as part of an electromagnetic stealth measure to disrupt radar, a physical barrier, propellant for GN Verniers, a coat that improves the cutting ability of physical blades, and to reinforce armor. Another special ability of GN Particles is the reduction of weight, or rather the pull of gravity on mass. This property is used within the atmosphere in order to help the mobility and movement of the mobile suit.

Nuclear Reactors: Common to many world-lines, and utilizing several different methods, both fission and fusion reactors power many of the machines in Asgard's forces. These devices vary in size and output potential, but they all operate on variations on similar principles involving a self-sustaining nuclear reaction. Nuclear Reactors, both Fusion and Fission, are vulnerable to the effects of N-Jammers. Nuclear Reactors are a common choice of powerplant, due to their relative cleanness, longevity and output to mass ratios.

Photonic Energy: Photonic energy is produced by properly harnessing the newly discovered element, 'Japanium', and creates a very powerful, pollution-free and safe to use renewable energy source. A single battery of Photonic energy can power a major city for a whole year, making this the perfect energy source, once preparations for distribution are handled. However, if weaponized, Photonic Energy becomes the most potentially destructive force in the world, with a single generator operating at 30% power able to produce a Photon Beam of such force it can obliterate a mountain several miles away by accident.

Photonic Reactors: Not to be confused with "photonic energy," this is a Metatron-based power generator system. See under [[1]]>>Metatron Technology.

Sakuradite: The true composition of sakuradite is unknown, but usually appears as a bright pink material. It is most likely a type of rocky ore when first mined, due to the fact of both being the Philosopher's Stone by medieval European culture and that it is mined. After being processed, Sakuradite is both extremely unstable and extremely explosive. Sakuradite has both superconductive and radioactive properties, and thus, it is both very valuable and necessary in the production of Knightmare Frames. As a high temperature super conductor, it is used in seventh generation Knightmares and above to conserve energy for high energy demand systems such as Blaze Luminous and Float Systems. As a radioactive material, it is used to power Knightmare Frames and fuel nuclear bombs.

Spiral Energy: Spiral Energy is the power of evolution, generated by beings capable of doing so, like humans and other DNA-based animals, whose spiral double helix molecular structure allows them to get stronger through the generations. Spiral energy is what connects spiral beings to the universe. Beastmen, because they do not reproduce naturally, cannot evolve, thus are unable to produce Spiral Energy. The amount of Spiral Energy produced by an individual may vary and is based not only on its own limitations, but also its immediate will to survive and persevere. Spiral Energy has both infinite potential and applications - it has been known to regenerate and grow new parts on machines to a galactic scale, and even create tunnels through spacetime.

Yggdrasil Drive: Its centerpiece is a Sakuradite device called the Core Luminous, where in a cube of unknown composition is weightlessly suspended. The centerpiece may also contain some kind of liquid, as when the Lancelot first launched, bubbles could be seen rising before the acivation of the Core Luminous. The cube revolves at high speeds during a state of drive activation known as Yggdrasil Resonance, apparently involved in the conduction of electricity. The technology is named after the Yggdrasil Tree of Norse Mythology. The drive is recharged through a Sakuradite energy filler.

Materials

E-Carbon: An artificial allotrope of carbon, employed as the armor material of numerous recent-make conventional mobile units. Said to be one of the newest and strongest materials available are used on mobile weapons as a results. It is said to be 20 times as strong as carbon nanotubes and are used for various other things like Orbital Elevator contruction. Despite being one of the most advanced material available to the three major powers, Celestial Being employs a much more advanced and re-enforced version of the material on their mobile suit's armors.

Gundarium: When the Earth Federation designed the RX-78 series of mobile suits, they also wanted a material that was strong, lightweight and durable for is construction; at that time they did not possess an adequate number of facilities to effect very-large-scale production and maintenance. Titanium isn't considered ideal as it becomes brittle if subjected to large amounts of stress over time, prompting the engineers to develop a new lightweight alloy that eventually came into being U.C. 0064, known as Luna titanium, colloquially called 'Gundarium'.

Gundanium: A unique compound which can only be produced in the zero-gravity conditions of space. In addition to its incredible strength--several times the strength and heat-resistance of titanium, Gundanium alloy is electrically non-conductive and cannot be detected by radar. However, this material is expensive and difficult to manufacture, making it unfeasible for mass production. Gundanium is created through the most advanced refining, fusing, and deoxidizing techniques, which are only possible in space. The complex formula was first called GND, short for Genetic on Universal Neutrally Different Alloy.

Metatron: First discovered in ore deposits by an unmanned probe on the Jovian moon Callisto in 2067 due to anomalous gravitational and elecromagnetic patterns, Metatron is a material which couples much more strongly to spacetime curvature than other materials, although how exactly it does this remains an open question in physics of the late 22nd century. Metatron generates unique radiation patterns which can be easily identified, and with which other Metatron structures will resonate sympathetically; some evidence suggests that this radiation can be harmful to people in large quantities, leading to aggressive pilot-shielding measures in the design of machines like Orbital Frames.

Japanium: A rare ore found only under Mount Fuji, in Japan. The Photonic Energy Research Lab was built there to harvest and harness the properties of Japanium, and it has led to the development of Photonic Energy, as well as the indestructible super alloy Z.

• Super Alloy Z: This is the metal utilized to construct the Super Robot, Mazinger Z. Super Alloy Z is created from the newly-discovered element Japanium, which is revealed to be, in fact, the severed arm of the god, Zeus, cleaved off him back in ancient Greece by his rival, Hades. Super Alloy Z is virtually unbreakable. Bullets fired from anti-materiel rifles are undamaged if made of Super Alloy Z and no conventional weaponry can actually damage it. Super Alloy Z will also bend before cracking, and will crack long before it breaks, making it almost impossible to damage through pressure and effort. Perhaps the best feature of Super Alloy Z, however, is its ability to withstand unnatural amounts of heat. Even the heart of a volcano can be survived if one is encased in Super Alloy Z.
  

Zflyud Crystal: Zfylud Crystals, nanomachine-like particles that can reproduce, repair themselves, generate energy and even gain sentience in large quantities. Because of this, they generates their own power without any fuel requirements. A Quantum Pulse Engine can simply harnesses the waves of energy that the crystals constantly radiate. A Zfylud (Mecha) can also repair itself when damaged, due to the crystals' reproductive nature, but despite this property, the unit itself cannot be mass-produced. A limiter device on the mother crystal prevents the Zfylud from reproducing itself more than four times.

Trans-Humanism

Code: Extremely vague in nature, but the 'Code' is the ultimate evolution of a Geass, and grants its user the ability to bestow Geass on others, as well as complete immortality.

• Geass: Geass is a mysterious ability which certain people can bestow upon others; C.C. is the most prominent character who grants the power of Geass. The Geass manifests differently in each individual, possibly related to their inner desires and personality. The power of Geass increases with use, and should the user lack the willpower, they may be consumed by it, which was the case with Mao. C.C. calls Geass the Power of Kings, and though she is unable to use the power herself, she is immune to the power being used on her.
  

Newtype: A Newtype is the next stage of human evolution in the Gundam universe. The theory behind this minor but groundbreaking metamorphosis is that in order to adapt to life in space, the human body evolved with heightened mental awareness. As such, Newtypes tend to appear among Spacenoids , although not exclusively. Newtypes have an extremely high degree of spatial awareness, almost a sixth sense. They are capable of telepathically detecting other Newtypes, and are sensitive to the hostile intentions directed at them by others, allowing them to uncannily react to their opponents even before the offender carries out his intended action. Some Newtypes also exhibit telepathic abilities or use psychokinesis.

• Extra Spatial Awareness: In the Cosmic Era, 'Newtypes' have extremely high degrees of spacial awareness, almost a sixth sense. They are also capable of sensing other 'Newtypes'. 'Newtypes' are able to see a brief glimpse into the future, allowing them an advantage in combat, by being able to predict their opponent's move. However, this was not always precise. CE 'Newtypes' also appear to have the ability to transmit and receive psychic messages, as Prayer Reverie and Morgan Chevalier display, but it is still unknown if this ability is unique to these two individuals, or can be used by all 'Newtypes'.
  
• Cyber-Newtype: A Cyber Newtype, is a Newtype created through artificial means. One such Cyber Newtype is Carris Nautilus, who voluntarily became one in order to have more power. The proccess unfortunatly also causes Synapse Syndrome, where the signals form the brain get confused and cause extreme pain that can be life threatening. The results of these projects were ultimately flawed, however. While many of these Enhanced Humans did have powerful abilities, they frequently suffered from extreme mental instability.
  

Innovators: Generally called Genuine or True Innovators, they are humans that naturally evolved from exposure to concentrated high grade GN Particles. The evolutionary process is also called Innovation. The full capabilities of a naturally evolved Innovator are unknown. In theory, a Genuine Innovator has the ability to sense other users of quantum brainwaves (QBWs), possesses telepathic abilities that allow him to sense the thoughts and feelings of neighboring people, enhanced reflexes and a sense for danger precognition, and the capability to utilize the special properties of high grade GN particles to communicate emotions/feelings out towards other people. They are also said to be able to live twice as long as a normal human.

• Innovades: The Innovades are living bio terminals created by Celestial Being to help Veda implement Aeolia's Plan into its many phases.[3] In general, Veda assigned different tasks to different Innovades; some Innovades are sent to different kinds of missions, actively completing the tasks Veda have sent them to do,[4] while others are integrated to live in human society in able to monitor and understand humanity. Though most of them are clueless of what they really are, Innovades know of Aeolia's Plan and exist as beings who carry it out.
  
• Quantum Brainwaves: The Special Brainwaves of an Innovator/Innovade. These are the vector through which a person gains ESP, the ability to share thoughts and feelings with other QBW capable people, as well as enhanced reflexes and limited precognition, like a danger sense. QBW also seeks out like, allowing multiple people with QBW to reach each other even across space, via relative proximity. Some (Innovades) are able to use QBW to interface directly with specially designed machines as well.
  

Psychodriver: A Psychodriver is a human who has powerful psychic abilities. This allows them, among other things, to pilot robots without the need of previous training or medication. Psychodrivers have been called "those with the blood of the ancients" by the Einst. Units with the T-Link System require a Psychodriver to be used to their full potential. As such, certain weapons, like the R-1's T-Link Knuckle and T-Link Sword, can't be used by non-Psychodrivers.

Whispered: Whispered are those who are capable of creating Black Technology, devices that are far more advanced than those of present time. They exist because of an accident in a Soviet experiment using an Omni-Sphere on December 24, 1981. All Whispereds were born in December 24, 1981 at 11:50. They have an incrediblely advanced knowledge of math, science, engineering, etc though each Whispered only specializes in a single area. Because of this, they are able to create high-tech devices that are far more advanced than those of the present time.

Miscellaneous

A.T. (Absolute Terror) Field: The Absolute Terror Field (also known as AT Field) is a barrier that the Angels can generate to protect themselves. AT Fields typically take the shape of a polygon and are usually orange in color. The strength of AT Fields produced varies between angels; for example, the angels Zeruel and Ramiel possess extremely powerful AT Fields, while Matarael's AT field was very weak. The strength of Evangelion units' AT fields depends upon the synchronization level of the pilot, and the strength setting used at the time. Eva pilots can control the strength of the AT Field from their entry plug.

Hilbert Effect: The Hilbert Effect is an anti-Gnosis system used to draw the Gnosis into our plane of reality, allowing us to come into contact with them, instead of them being able to interact with our plane's matter at will. Using Hilbert waves is proven to be one of the few ways to even attempt to attack a Gnosis. Once the Hilbert Effect has dissipated , any Gnosis previously effected will return to their state of invulnerability.
