Earth Cradle

As one half of Project Ark, the Earth Cradle is a massive underground facility, whose primary purpose is the cryogenic hibernation of the human population on Earth. It is created by the Divine Crusaders as a failsafe, in case humanity lost a war with alien invaders and facing extinction. The vast majority of the Earth Cradle's systems are overseen by the supercomputer, Magus. Recently, the systems of the Earth Cradle have been replaced by less powerful but more easily controlled computer systems by the Earth Federation.

  • Location: Ethiopia.
  • Size: 2km Diameter
  • Depth: Endless
  • Material: Zol Orihalcon, reinforced with Machinery Cells.
  • Power Plant: Cold Fusion engine.
  • Operational Capacity: Endless.
  • Weapons Systems:
    • Weapon Name: Defensive Cannons
    • Type: Beam Cannons
    • Range: Very Long
    • Damage: High Powered Beam Launchers
    • Energy Cost: Heavy
    • Side effects: Potentially death of target
    • Locations: Surrounding the base. Used to complement the PT/MS defense force, primarily Virgo³ now.

Earth Cradle Layout

The Earth Cradle is separated into floors, each of which having a separate purpose, digging deeper and deeper into the Earth. It's final defense system is to burrow to the center of the Earth and keep humanity frozen if this is required, to assure the continuation of the species. The main floor, the one closest to the ground (it's underground reguardless, but..) is the main storage and maintenance floor. The second floor are the living quarters. The third floor is the science sector, including the primary Magus monitor. The fourth floor is the School, where the W-Series are born. The fifth floor is the powerplant and utilities sector. The sixth to 9th floors are unused areas made to cryogenically freeze humanity.

First Floor:

Hangar/Production Sector: Parts, maintenance, repairs and a small medical facility is located here. Various production facilities have been adapted from the Bergelmir fabricators to replicate the Ashsabers, Randgriths and Virgos used in mass quantities. Specialty parts are made in the science sector or in smaller, more specialized areas of the hangar. Currently inactive.

Launch Bay: The primary locale for all the pending Earth Federation units, waiting to be used, with the single fastest access to the outside world.

Second Floor:

Living Quarters: All pilots live in this area. The Elite pilots of Shadow Mirror had their own rooms, but the rank and file soldiers shared a room four at a time. However, as many were either from the Divine Crusaders or W-Series, they did not seem to mind so much due to habit. The command staff shared the same room as the Elites, save for Vindel and Lemon, who both had private, spacious rooms. Currently these are under repairs and restoration for the actual intended purpose, later down the line.

Rest Area: An R&R section of the base, originally a storage depot, has been adapted by Shadow Mirror for the pilots to socialize and form bonds, what separates them from the Testaments. All sorts of activies are available in the rest area, from the simple to the complex.

  • Bar and Game Room: A small but peaceful area where pilots can drink or shoot pool, darts, video games and the like.
  • Sports Hall: A separate adaptable sports gymnasium for pilots with extra energy to spend.

Command Center: Shadow Mirror's primary command center, linked to the Magus Super Computer. Planning, analysis and debriefing takes place in this area. Vindel, Lemon and Axel being the only ones with access to the main Control room. This section contains a war room, briefing room and terminal room to allow for communication with other groups. Currently the most active section on the Earth Cradle, as Earth Federation officials work to re-habilitate the Earth Cradle.

Third Floor:

Science Sector: The whole third floor is basically a series of laboratories, data analysis centers, and the main databases of the Magus super computer.

  • Leonard Testarossa's Laboratory: Taking up the most space due to working with the DG Cells and a Getter furnace, Leonard Testarossa's laboratory is designed to reverse engineer everything from any type of technology. This has been converted and used extensively by the Federation scientists.

Magus: The Supercomputer of the Earth Cradle, based on Sophia Nate's personality and appearance, monitors the systems and people in the Earth Cradle in a matronly fashion. She is responsible for raising the School Children pilots, and is currently handling the 'life' within the base. With Sophia Nate removed, the Magus Supercomputer is inactive.

Fourth Floor:

W-Series Production Facility: All W-Series artificial beings are built here. This entire floor exists to monitor and grow them. However, they are not easy or cheap to make, so they are not a clone army or disposable super soldiers, but they are copies of existing people.. or just plain 'new' people which don't exist. These are still in high function, much to the chagrin of more human members of the Federation forces.

Fifth Floor:

Power and Systems Facilities: All power and maintenance systems of the Earth Cradle are in the fifth floor. Self-repair, energy, water, and other systems are monitored in this area. This is one of the most heavily guarded and shielded areas of the Cradle, and no admittance is allowed without express permission from Magus, and currently, the network of supercomputers installed in its place.

Sixth to Ninth Floors:

Cold storage space, frozen food and lift support systems. These floors have no other value.
