SKILLS
Bayushi Kenjutsu: Houten is the current master of the Bitter Lies style and Dojo. This sword style consists of seemingly suicidal levels of aggression, intended to disrupt their opponents, as well as erratic movements, switching sword hands suddenly, keeping the blade pointing towards an opponent's face so they can't judge it's position in space as well, and other such underhanded (to some) tactics.
Bayushi Taijutsu: Houten's hand-to-hand martial arts focus on striking joints, pressure points and other weaknesses to subdue opponents as quickly as possible.
Shurikenjutsu: Is very skilled with thrown weapons, preferring needles and kunai. Needle strikes are often poisoned somehow or aimed at pressure points, kunai strikes often come with various tags attached.
Genjutsu: Offsetting Sound: Houten slips his fingers under his mask and to his lips, making a shrill whistle, giving him a chance of releasing allies from genjutsu with the sound of it.
Genjutsu: Leafe-Style Willow: Houten whips his sword about, back and fourth, which when seen by the target, locks them into a genjutsu where they hallucinate multiple waving arms with swords slashing at them. The movement resembles a willow tree blowing in a strong wind.
Fire Release: Ninkenjutsu: When Shinjitsu's blade goes from glowing hot to actually on fire, this is why. Houten feeds more chakra into the blade, creating an inferno under his control. The fire can be launched in waves in the air/on the ground or extended and used like a whip.
Fire Release: Fox Fire: Manifests a circle of fireballs in front of the user that can be cast at targets.
Wind Release: Storm of Leaves: A wind vortex full of red maple leaves or dry autumn leaves surges around a target or tightly packed group of targets to confuse and distract.
Wind Release: Air Bullets: This technique shoots multiple bullets of air at the victim with intense speed. Houten generally reserves this technique for sniping.
Wind Release: Silent Step: Creates an aura of air around Houten that muffles all sound he makes for as long as the jutsu is active. While this jutsu is active he is also less likely to leave tracks, even in sand, mud or snow.
Houten is, as most Bayushi Shinobi are, well versed in both the creation and curing of various poisons.
SPECIAL ABILITIES, POWERS
Summoning Jutsu: Pincers and Tail: Massive sets of pincers explode from the ground; how many is determined by time, effort and chakra spent. These pincers will attempt to grapple with any hostile target within reach. Any target successfully grappled spawns a summoned, equally large tail that will move to sting them. The venom of this sting is limited to an intense, burning pain that spreads across the body over time and lasts for about an hour.
Summoning Jutsu: The Ground That Crawls: After this summoning is performed, a mass of small but highly poisonous scorpions appear from the ground as if they had burrowed up. The scorpion's venom will not kill or cause nerve damage, but it will cause an intense burning pain around the sting site that lasts for a few minutes. These scorpions are not specifically hostile and behave as scorpions do, but those who do not watch their step will be stung many times. The summoned scorpions specifically ignore Houten, and he can will them to ignore his allies as well.
Summoning Jutsu: Thousand Sting Hell: A technique similar to Ground That Crawls, but these scorpions are summoned to specifically swarm and repeatedly sting a single target with the aims of incapacitation through overwhelming pain.
Summoning Jutsu: Giant Scorpion: Does what it says on the tin, summons a huge scorpion to fight for Houten. This scorpion is large enough for Houten to ride on, with the stinger bulb being about the size of a basketball and the scorpion's head being about waist to chest high on the average person. This scorpion has human like intelligence, an armored carapace, powerful pincers, and the same painful burning venom as its kindred, it's sting similar to the Pincers and Tail technique.
Bayushi Clan Jutsu: Silent Slink: Upon using this Jutsu, Houten melts into his own shadow. If his shadow is not touching any other, he is immobile in this position but can "bury" himself in his own shadow as long as at least part of him is poking out to cast one. If his shadow is touching other shadows, he may freely swim around through all adjacent shadows, emerging at will as if climbing out of a pool of water. Houten makes no sound moving into, through or out of shadows.
Bayushi Clan Jutsu: Silent Step: With this Jutsu, Houten can enter a shadow and emerge from another shadow anywhere within 200 feet of his starting point.
Bayushi Clan Jutsu: Castless Curse: This jutsu causes Houten to not cast any shadows for as long as it is active.
NOTABLE ITEMS
Shinjitsu: A katana with silver accessories, a red handle wrapped in black and a black scabbard. When Houten draws this weapon and pushes his chakra into it, he is capable of willing the blade to burn with intense heat, either glowing white hot or being actually on fire.
Churetsu: A katana with rose-gold accessories, a burgundy handle wrapped in red and a red scabbard. When this weapon is drawn, it exerts a constant drain on Houten's chakra, but in return it can slice through metal as surely as it can through flesh.
Utsuwari: A katana with black accessories, a dark red handle wrapped in black and a dark red scabbard. When this weapon is drawn, it exerts a constant drain on Houten's chakra, but in return it obfuscates his position, making him appear to be a bit to one side from where he actually is.
WEAKNESSES
Many of his techniques are chakra heavy, so without ration pills he runs the risk of exhausting himself in longer or more difficult engagements. The Bayushi family upbringing is excessively strict and a bit twisted, and this leads many Bayushi in adult life to have problems in social situations when their figurative mask slips. No Bayushi may be allowed to be seen without a mask of some sort in public. While a mask can be figurative rather than literal, something must be there outside of their private dealings. Has a very black and white view of betrayal and the consequences thereof, and will not listen to reason when he decides someone is a traitor and needs to be punished unless that reason is compelling to the point of being absolute. Houten will lie without remorse to -ANYONE- if he deems it necessary for the mission at hand. ANY act done in the line of duty is honorable by default.
