Strangereal

Strangereal is the name of the alternate universe within which most Ace Combat stories take place. Strangereal is almost identical to our real universe, but its version of Earth features entirely different landmasses and historical events.

History

Strangereal Timeline.

A number of major events have occurred in Strangereal's history, most of which were represented as follows:

Year 1905: Osean War: In 1905, the Osean Federation's desire to expand its territory ultimately sparked the Osean War. Early on in the war, Belkan military official Franklin Göllnitz conceptualized using aircraft—until then only used for reconnaissance—for strategic bombing of enemy troops. Such bombing raids were devastating to the Oseans, who responded by joining the Belkans in the air. The Belkans quickly discovered that they could build more agile aircraft designed to control air superiority rather than bomb ground targets. The country had been ramping up its industrial production in the years prior to the war, allowing Belka to create new aircraft at a rapid pace during the war. Despite the superior power of the new Belkan Air Force, it is unclear which country ultimately prevailed.

Years 1980's-1990's: Cold War: The Cold War was a state of geopolitical tension between the Osean Federation and the Union of Yuktobanian Republics in the 1980s and 1990s.[3] "Cold" refers to the lack of direct large-scale fighting between the two countries, as they merely expanded their nuclear arsenals and developed new weaponry to counter each other.
The Cold War abruptly ended in 1995 when the Belkan Federation declared war on its neighboring countries, including Osea. They settled their differences with Yuktobania and allied with them in the ensuing Belkan War. Both countries also worked together to face the threat posed by the Ulysses 1994XF04 asteroid. However, the Cold War's legacy continued for years, culminating in the Circum-Pacific War in 2010.

Year 1995: Skully Islands Insurrection: At some point in 1995, the government of the Skully Islands was overthrown in a coup d'état by a well armed militia with undetermined intentions, seizing various installations such as military bases and refineries in a rapid and highly organized offensive. The FCU military launched several attacks to reclaim the island chain, but were repeatedly repelled by surprise attacks. In response to the crisis, the Federation appointed Commander Robert Tyler of the FCU armed forces' southern district to launch an offensive to defeat the group and liberate the islands from their grasp.[1] To aid in the operation, Unified Command procured the services of the mercenary Scarface Squadron and their leader Phoenix.
The unit was initially deployed in a mission to intercept C-5 Galaxy cargo aircraft on a resupply mission to evaluate their abilities, leading them to become a central asset in Tyler's offensive. Over various weeks, Phoenix and his pilots attacked the rebel forces in several operations, including the recapture of Donet City, the destruction of oil refineries and the elimination of the Scorpion Island stronghold, before ultimately destroying the rebels' central headquarters.
After the fall of their main base, a final force seized an aerial warship known as the Sky Fortress and set off to attack an unspecified target in the islands. The Sky Fortress was destroyed by Scarface before it could reach the mainland, leading to the ultimate defeat of the rebels and the restoration of the legitimate government.

Year 1995: Belkan War: The war officially began on March 25, 1995 with Belka's invasion of Osean and Ustio lands. Belka's initial invasion tactic was a Belkan Air Force-led blitz campaign that quickly overwhelmed its targets. One week later, most of the invaded countries created a coalition force known as the Allied Forces and initiated a counterattack. The Allied Forces's Offensive Campaign No. 4101 quickly liberated Ustio and returned all territories to their pre-war status.
The Allied Forces then received intelligence that Belka was developing mass retaliation weapons.[5] Working with this information, they invaded South Belka, destroyed the Excalibur laser defense weapon, and marched on North Belka. In a desperate attempt to prevent them from entering North Belka, the Belkan military detonated seven nuclear weapons, killing over 12,000 civilians. The war abruptly ended and both sides signed a peace treaty in Lumen on June 20, 1995.
Many Belkan and Allied military elements that sought a "perfect world without restrictions or wars" created a rogue organization called A World With No Boundaries. They emerged six months after the official cessation of hostilities and took control of the Avalon Dam facility in North Belka. The group attempted to launch a V2 missile to cause mass destruction on the continent, but the Allied Forces thwarted their plans.
The Belkan War's impact on the world was powerful and long-lasting. The Union of Yuktobanian Republics came to the Osean Federation's aid in the war, which began a path of reconciliation to end their Cold War. The nuclear attacks immediately triggered non-proliferation efforts worldwide. Belka's era as a strong, militaristic country with a powerful air force had come to an end, though rogue elements later caused the outbreaks of the Circum-Pacific War and Lighthouse War.

Year 1997: Usean Coup d'Etat: On May 30, 1997, the day of the pact's signing, fearing the presence of the Osean military and the loss of mining rights, conservative extremists all across the continent (including personnel within the Usean Allied Forces) organized and launched a large coup d'état that broke out across the entire continent simultaneously. They did not attack areas in just the southern nations, but in the northern and western nations as well, likely to disband any and all alliances on the continent and create a new government. The Allied Forces, caught by surprise and burdened with numerous attacks and defections at one time, were forced to retreat to the west.
It began to look like the Rebel Forces would succeed in taking over the continent and instilling a new, permanent continental state government. They hoped to quell the rebellion quickly, but they were forced to retreat in all areas. As a last resort, the Allied Forces initiated Operation Fighter's Honor, their counterattack operation to shut down the rebellion and take back the continent. As part of their operation, they enlisted the help of the mercenary Scarface Squadron, which would spearhead the assault.
On March 20, 1998, a large bomber force was deployed by the Rebel Forces to destroy one of the last remaining Allied bases at Twinkle Islands. Scarface One, TAC name Phoenix, was launched quickly, and he destroyed the bomber force and kept the base safe. Over a week later, Phoenix was sent to shoot down a squadron of reconnaissance units, which were supported by the Lancer Squadron. Phoenix shot down the entire unit and squadron. To the Allied Forces, this proved his worth, and from here on out he was used as their trump card in their counterattack.

Year 1999: Ulysses 1994XF04: Ulysses 1994XF04,[a] commonly referred to as Ulysses, was a Strangereal asteroid approximately 1.6 km (1 mi) in diameter. It was the catalyst of the Ulysses Impact Event in 1999.
Professor Jonathan Payek first discovered Ulysses in October 1994 while working at Seals Bridge University. Subsequent research in the Comona Islands predicted the asteroid would pass close to Earth in 1999 with a high chance of impacting and causing devastation.
The Federation of Central Usea announced the asteroid's prediction to the world in April 1996, sending Earth's countries into a panic. Usea and Anea were the two continents predicted to suffer the most damage, resulting in mass migrations and large shelter development. Usean countries developed the Stonehenge railgun to combat Ulysses; on Anea, Estovakia attempted to develop the Chandelier railgun but could not complete it in time. Ulysses made impact as predicted in July 1999. Within two weeks, over half a million human lives were lost; Usea and Estovakia's infrastructure collapsed; and a widespread humanitarian crisis quickly developed as refugees lost their homes. The political instability from the impacts lasted years and inevitably resulted in the Continental War and the Estovakian Civil War.

Year 2003: Continental War: The Continental War, also known as the Usean Continental War or First Usean Continental War, was a major Strangereal conflict on the Usean continent that lasted from 2003 to 2005. The Federal Republic of Erusea waged war against all other Usean countries who had joined in a military alliance named the Independent State Allied Forces (ISAF). Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies depicted the events of the second half of the Continental War in its story campaign.
The war officially began in the summer of 2003 following Erusea's capture of San Salvacion and Stonehenge. This sudden invasion followed years of a refugee crisis that resulted in friction between Erusea and its neighboring countries. Erusea repurposed Stonehenge—developed to combat the Ulysses 1994XF04 asteroid—as an anti-aircraft weapon. The other Usean countries formed ISAF and began a counteroffensive in September 2003, but Stonehenge's effectiveness pushed ISAF back to the continent's east coast.
Starting in September 2004, Mobius 1 joined other ISAF pilots in carrying out small air strikes against Erusean forces. ISAF performed a landing operation on the southern coast of Usea in January 2005 and began to retake territory. Mobius 1 single-handedly destroyed Stonehenge and led ISAF to capture Erusea's capital in September 2005, ending the Continental War. Rebellious Erusean officers attempted to use Megalith, a newly-constructed weapon of mass destruction, to perform retribution attacks against ISAF. Mobius 1 led the new Mobius Squadron to destroy Megalith.

Year 2006: 2006 Free Erusea Uprising: The Free Erusea uprising was a terrorist insurgency in late 2006 on the Usean continent. Free Erusea—an organized network of former Federal Erusea Air Force officers—captured an old munitions factory in White Valley and attacked various locations throughout the continent. The Independent State Allied Forces formulated Operation Katina in response, sending Mobius 1 and AWACS SkyEye to quell the rebellion.

Year 2007: Estovakian Civil War: The Estovakian Civil War was a civil war in Estovakia from 2007 to 2013, fought between Estovakian military factions vying for control of the country. Lasting for six years, it remains the longest armed conflict in Strangereal history. Estovakia's government fell apart in the aftermath of the Ulysses 1994XF04 planetfall, leaving regional control to the military. The Lyes United Front took control of western Estovakia in 2007 and abused Emmerian assistance, leading to a humanitarian disaster. The four other military factions—the Eastern Faction, the Island Coalition, the Independent Tariff Federation, and the Northern Highlands Faction—declared war on the Lyes United Front and each other. The civil war led to the dissolution of the initiative to unify Anea into a single republic a year after hostilities began.
The Eastern Faction's development and use of the P-1112 Aigaion, as well as the elite Strigon and Vampire aerial squadrons, allowed the Eastern Faction to achieve victory in late 2013. These would later be central to Emmeria's early losses in the Emmeria-Estovakia War, instigated by the Eastern Faction and its "Generals".

Year 2010: Circum-Pacific War: The Circum-Pacific War, also referred to as the Belkan Conflict and the Great War, was a large-scale war waged between the Osean Federation and the Union of Yuktobanian Republics. The conflict was later revealed to have been masterminded by a cabal of Belkan nationalists known as the "Grey Men". Despite its name, the conflict was waged across the Ceres Ocean.

Year 2014: 2014 Free Erusea Uprising: The 2014 Free Erusea uprising was a series of armed insurrections conducted by Free Erusea on the Usean continent. To maintain peace across the continent, the IUN mobilized its peacekeeping forces, which included Mobius Squadron among multiple other units.
Following the Circum-Pacific War, the militaries of Osea and Yuktobania were severely weakened, resulting in Free Erusea gaining access to greater amounts of funding and weaponry. Throughout the early 2010s, Free Erusea grew from being a mere terrorist organization to a global threat.

Year 2015: Emmeria-Estovakia War: The Emmeria-Estovakia War, also referred to as the Estovakia-Emmeria War or E.E. War, was a large-scale war on the Anean continent waged between the Federal Republic of Estovakia and the Republic of Emmeria. The war officially began in the summer of 2015, with Estovakian forces crossing the border and invading the Emmerian capital city of Gracemeria. Following the loss of their capital, a large portion of the Emmerian military was eventually pushed back to Khesed Island in October 2015.
The Emmerian counteroffensive began in November 2015, and they successfully retook Khesed by the following month. In January 2016, the Emmerians landed on Anea, and later pushed inland, rescuing stranded allies. While pushing further inland, Garuda Team led an assault on the Aerial Fleet, where Talisman destroyed the P-1112 Aigaion. Emmeria eventually recaptured their capital in March, forcing Estovakian leaders to begin negotiating a ceasefire agreement and cede all captured territory. However, Estovakian officers opposing peace talks with Emmeria utilized the Chandelier as a retaliatory weapon. In April, the Republic of Emmeria Air Force attacked and destroyed the railgun, ending the Emmeria-Estovakia War. In Estovakia, a coup d'etat in the nation's capital overthrew "The Generals" and the ceasefire was signed later in May.

Year 2019: Leasath Civil War: Sometime in the early 21st century, the Leasathian government planned to finance on arms research and development, making profit by selling arms to countries all over the world. The government faced heavy disapproval of the population and the collapse of the economy resulted into a civil war, ravaging the country. Leasath's neighbor Aurelia was the former's biggest benefactor, providing a variety of vital supplies, which didn't reach the population. A known participant of the war was the Chimera Squadron, whose actions in the civil war boosted their reputation across Southern Osea. The civil war lasted multiple years before coming to an end in 2019.

Year 2019: Lighthouse War: The Lighthouse War, also known as the Second Continental War[b] or Second Usean Continental War, was a large-scale conflict between the countries of Osea and Erusea on the continent of Usea. The war officially began on May 15, 2019, as Erusea launched attacks on Osean home ports using container-launched UAVs and occupied most of the Usean continent in a surprise attack. After capturing the International Space Elevator, Erusea gained control of the two Arsenal Birds tasked with defending it, granting them air superiority. In response, the Osean Federation deployed its forces alongside the IUN.
The Oseans quickly discovered Erusea had set up a UAV auto-intercept system using a radar net spanning the length of the eastern front of the continent. Osea conscripted various criminals with flying experience to test the length of the radar net for vulnerabilities, creating penal units such as Spare Squadron. Finally discovering one, Osea created the Long Range Strategic Strike Group (LRSSG) to exploit the blind spot and carry out attacks within Erusean territory. With the help of the LRSSG, Osea used Stonehenge to shoot down an Arsenal Bird in mid-August, allowing Osean forces to advance further east. In early September, their advance was slowed when Captain Matias Torres rebelled against Erusea and threatened to use the Erusean submerisble aviation cruiser Alicorn to end the war himself by drastic measures. After dealing with the Alicorn, Osean forces continued pushing west towards Farbanti.
Concurrent with Farbanti's capture later that month, both Osea and Erusea's satellite networks were destroyed, throwing Usea into chaos and sparking civil war in Erusea. In late October, a coalition of Osean and Erusean forces shot down both Arsenal Bird Justice and later two highly advanced UAVs, recapturing the Lighthouse. In December, a ceasefire was signed at the Expo City Conference, officially ending the war.

Countries

Strangereal appears nearly identical to our real Universe: a large, expanding universe with a small percentage of mass belonging to stars and planets. Strangereal's Earth is located in the same galaxy as our Milky Way since some of the constellations in the Milky Way also appear in Strangereal, including Crux (used in Gryphus Squadron's emblem and as Eugene Solano's callsign, referred to as the "Southern Cross").

Unlike the universe in general, the planet Earth in Strangereal is vastly different from our real Earth. Various differences include climates, landmasses, historical events, and cultures. Similarities exist as well: Humans inhabit this Earth as the dominant species; the concept of time is exactly the same as ours; and lasting world peace seems unreachable, which is a popular theme for most Strangereal-based games.

Strangereal's Earth is comprised of seven recognized continents, each of which is divided into various countries. In total, there are over 50 countries on Strangereal.

Anea

Anea is a continent on Earth in the Strangereal universe. It is located north of the Verusan continent. It is bordered by the Fuscum Sea to the south, the Arctic Ocean to the northeast, the Ceres Ocean to the southeast, and the Eusian Ocean to the west. Anea is separated into three nations, including one of the world's leading economic and military powers, the Republic of Emmeria.
Anea is one of the most northernmost continents on the planet. In spite of its geographic position, Anea is home to a variety of climates including deserts. Only three major countries are known to exist on Anea:

• Nordennavic: Nordennavic, officially the Kingdom of Nordennavic, is a nation located on the northwest of the Anean continent, close to the North Pole. Due to its proximity to the pole, the country's temperature is naturally cold.[4] It shares its only land border with Emmeria to the southeast. Nordennavic has maintained strict diplomatic neutrality for centuries. During the Emmeria-Estovakia War, Nordennavic remained neutral in the conflict but took in a large number of Emmerian refugees. The country is also known for its thriving machine industry, which greatly contributes to its economy.
• Emmeria: Emmeria, officially the Republic of Emmeria, is a leading economic and military power in the Strangereal universe encompassing western and central Anea in addition to Khesed Island.[4] Neighbouring countries include Estovakia to the east, Nordennavic to the northwest, and Yuktobania across the Fuscum Sea to the south. Emmeria is a large, wealthy nation that possesses great economic influence and is home to a thriving population of approximately 110 million people. Emmeria's industrial production is a key factor in its economy which allows its citizens, particularly those in the capital city, Gracemeria, to enjoy prosperous and peaceful everyday lives. Previously a kingdom during medieval times, Emmeria was subject to a history of warfare. Conflicts involving Emmerian lords and foreign invaders often threw Emmeria into chaos. King Aurelius II later ended the conflicts, uniting the country and establishing the Republic of Emmeria.[2] In modern times, the country maintains a large and highly-skilled military, considered to be one of the most capable armed forces on Earth. Following the Ulysses Impact Event and the Estovakian Civil War, Emmeria sent aid to Estovakia to help restart its economy, but tensions rose between the two countries.[7] This culminated in the Emmeria-Estovakia War, which Emmeria ultimately won.
• Estovakia: Estovakia, officially the Federal Republic of Estovakia, is a large country located in eastern Anea. It shares its only land border with the Republic of Emmeria to the west and is separated from Yuktobania by the Fuscum Sea, located just south of Anea. By 2014, it had a population of approximately 63.5 million people. Estovakia was a nation engulfed in economic strife following the Ulysses Impact Event in 1999. The event caused significant damage to its economy and infrastructure, sparked the Estovakian Civil War,[5] and ultimately dissolved any future plans for the Republic of Anea, an initiative that aimed to unite all the Anean countries into a single nation. It was governed by the Estovakian Military Regime led by "The Generals" after the civil war ended in October 2013. After a period of escalation, Estovakia declared war on Emmeria in August 2015, sparking the Emmeria-Estovakia War. Civilian displeasure with the war led to a coup d'etat in the nation's capital that overthrew the military regime. Following the war's conclusion in May 2016, Estovakia's leaders restored peaceful relations with Emmeria. However, Estovakia was once again left in a state of disrepair. Prior to the Emmeria-Estovakia War, the Estovakian military was relatively large and well-equipped and utilized advanced aircraft such as the P-1112 Aigaion and CFA-44 Nosferatu.

Antarctia

Antarctia is the largest continent land-wise. It is the geographic southernmost continent on the planet, and the geographic South Pole is in the center of Antarctia. No countries, colonies, or research stations belonging to other countries are known to exist on Antarctia. It has not been involved in any known conflicts.

Osea

The Osean continent is one of the largest continents on the planet and is home to a large number of people. Numerous conflicts have been fought here, outnumbering the known conflicts on any other continent. The continent is separated into at least a dozen countries. Osea is one of the largest continents in Strangereal. It is located east of Verusa and west of the Usea. It is connected to its smaller southern counterpart, South Osea. The Osean Federation, a global superpower, is located on it. The known countries and their position on the Osean continent are as follows:

Western Osea

• Osea: Osea, officially the Osean Federation, is a massive Strangereal country and international superpower located on the Osean continent. Osea encompasses a majority of the continent's western landmass and shares land borders with Belka, Ustio, and Sapin to the east and Perbla to the south. Its capital, Oured, is located on the tip of Osea's southeastern peninsula near Oured Bay. Osea is a highly developed country that possesses a large population, an extensive infrastructure, a thriving capitalist economy, and a well-outfitted military force, the Osean Defense Forces. Osea is also considered one of the world's foremost leaders in aeronautics and space-exploration development. The country's achievements include the construction of the Strategic Orbital Linear Gun, the Arkbird (a joint program with Yuktobania), and the International Space Elevator. By virtue of its world power, Osea held expansionist ideologies and annexed new territories throughout the 20th century. The country's aggressive nature directly resulted in major conflicts such as the Osean War, the Belkan War, and the Usean coup d'état. A rivalry also existed between Osea and Yuktobania, which led to the Cold War in the 1980s and 1990s. In the 21st century, especially following the election of President Vincent Harling, Osea's expansionism was curtailed and the country diminished its military power to follow a more peaceful foreign policy. Despite the Circum-Pacific War against Yuktobania, which was orchestrated by Belkan extremists as revenge for the Belkan War, this policy of peace continued into the 2010s. However, due to previous tensions and miscommunication regarding the development of the International Space Elevator, the Kingdom of Erusea declared war on Osea in 2019, leading to the Lighthouse War.

Eastern Osea

• Belka: Belka, officially the Principality of Belka, and formerly the Belkan Federation, is a major country on the Osean continent. Belka shares borders with Osea, FATO, Gebet, Recta, and Ustio. Belka is best known for pioneering the use of aircraft in war, particularly with its legendary Belkan Air Force. Historically, the country was a leading scientific and industrial power, which utilized its strength to advance its imperialist policy in the 20th century. This culminated in the 1995 Belkan War, in which Belka detonated seven nuclear weapons on its own soil. Belka's defeat also resulted in the nation being reduced to less than half of its size. The country is still recovering from the Belkan War, in which it lost the majority of its territory. Nationalists have attempted to influence world conflicts, including the Circum-Pacific War[5] and the Lighthouse War, in efforts to exact revenge.
• FATO: FATO is a nation located in northeastern Osea. It is bordered by the Cascade Ocean to the north, the Nordlands to the east, Wielvakia to the south, Gebet to the southwest, and Belka to the west. FATO played a minor role in the Belkan War.
• Nordlands: The Nordlands is a nation located on the easternmost point of the Osean continent. It is bordered by FATO to the northwest, the Cascade Ocean to the northeast, the Spring Sea to the southeast, and Wielvakia to the southwest. A narrow strait separates the Nordlands from the Kingdom of Erusea on Usea's westernmost peninsula.
• Wielvakia: Wielvakia is a country located in northeastern Osea. It is bordered by FATO to the north; the Nordlands to the northeast; the Spring Sea to the southeast; Ratio to the southwest; and Recta and Gebet to the west-northwest. Wielvakia was involved in the Lumen peace discussions at the end of the Belkan War in 1995. The country is not known to have participated in the war, so its role in the peace discussions is not clear.
  
• Ratio: Ratio is a country located in eastern Osea. It is bordered by Sapin to the west, Ustio to the northwest, Recta to the north, Wielvakia to the northeast, and the Spring Sea to the southeast. Ratio's capital, Centrum, lies in the center of the country.
  
• Sapin: Sapin, officially the Kingdom of Sapin, is a country located in eastern Osea. Sapin is bordered by Osea to the west, Ustio to the north, and Ratio to the east. During the Belkan War in 1995, Sapin joined the Allied Forces coalition to help contain Belka's invasion of neighboring countries, which included Sapin.
• Ustio: Ustio, officially the Republic of Ustio, is a small landlocked nation located on the Osean continent. It is bordered by Belka to the north; Recta and Ratio to the east; Sapin to the south; and Osea to the west. Ustio's capital, Directus, is situated near the center of the nation. Formerly Belkan territory, Ustio seceded from the Belkan Federation as a result of the Belkan economic crisis, declaring its independence on May 12, 1988. In 1995, Belka invaded Ustio as part of the Belkan War in an attempt to acquire the newly discovered resource deposits in northwest Ustio, conquering most of the country before being pushed back by the Osean-led Allied Forces. Ustio is largely agrarian, featuring rolling patchworks of farmland and remote towns, such as Solis Ortus, situated in the rugged mountain ranges. Ustio's northern regions are known to be rich in natural resources. The Ustian military is known to supplement its regular forces with mercenaries, using them to great effect during the Belkan War.
• Recta: Recta is a landlocked country located in eastern Osea. Recta is bordered by Belka to the northwest, Gebet to the north, Wielvakia to the east, Ratio to the south, and Ustio to the west. Its capital, Cor, is located near the nation's eastern border with Wielvakia.
• Gebet: Gebet, officially known as the Republic of Gebet, is a landlocked country located in northeastern Osea. Gebet is bordered by Belka to the northwest, FATO to the northeast, Wielvakia to the southeast, and Recta to the south.

South Osea

South Osea is one of the smaller continents in Strangereal. Despite being connected to its larger northern counterpart Osea, it is still considered its own continent. The known countries, from north to south, are as follows:

• Perbla: Perbla is a nation located in South Osea, located just north of Leasath. Perbla is bordered by the Osean Federation to the north and two unknown countries to the south. To the far east of Perbla is the Spring Sea, and to the far west, the Pacific Ocean.
• Aurelia: Aurelia, officially the Federal Republic of Aurelia, is a country located in South Osea. It shares borders with Leasath to the northeast and an unnamed country to the north. Aurelia is a relatively small, yet wealthy and very developed nation as a result of its land being rich in natural resources. The nation supports a modestly-sized military which utilizes highly-advanced war machines. Its capital, Griswall, features the Gaiuss Tower, which is one of the tallest known structures on Earth. The citizens of Aurelia enjoy living in peace and prosperity.
• Leasath: The Democratic Republic of Leasath or Peoples Republic of Leasath, is a nation located in South Osea. It is bordered by the Federal Republic of Aurelia to the southwest and multiple unspecified nations to the west, north and northeast. Leasath carries ideologies similar to that of a fascistic, or at least dictatorial, state, particularly in the manner in which Navarro rose to, and wielded, power. Usea

Usea (ユージア Yūjia) is one of the major landmasses on Earth in the Strangereal universe. Usea is located between the Osean and Verusan continents. It is surrounded by the Cascade Ocean to the north, the Spring Sea to the south, and the Eusian Ocean to the east. The countries of Usea have maintained complex relations among themselves, and its peoples have fought numerous armed conflicts throughout history. Usea has at least 18 countries most of which are unknown. The known countries are as follows:

• Central Usea: Central Usea, officially the Federation of Central Usea, frequently referred to as the FCU, is one of the major countries on the Usean continent. Although unofficial, the FCU was considered to be the head state of the Independent State Allied Forces.
• North Point: North Point is an island nation and the name of its capital city located off the northeastern coast of the Usean continent, due east of Saint Ark. It served as the location of the Independent State Allied Forces' second General Headquarters following its evacuation of the mainland during the Continental War.
• San Salvacion: San Salvacion is an independent nation located in northwest-central Usea and also the name of its capital, encompassing territory both north and south of the Lambert Mountains. It has been called a "symbol of peace" by other Usean nations and, in modern times, has maintained friendly relations with its neighbors. However, due to its strategic location, San Salvacion has been the site of several major battles throughout its history, most recently in the Continental War and Lighthouse War.
• Erusea: Erusea, officially the Kingdom of Erusea, is a large nation located on the westernmost part of the Usean continent. Erusea shares its border with San Salvacion and at least one other nation. Its capital, Farbanti, is located on the coast of Usea's westernmost peninsula near the Spring Sea. Formerly the Federal Republic of Erusea or Erusean Republic, the nation was known for its industrialism, militarism, and advancements in engineering and aeronautic technologies. It was severely affected by the impact of Ulysses 1994XF04 in 1999. By mid-2003, tensions between Erusea and the other Usean nations escalated into open war, in which Erusea was soundly defeated. By 2011, Erusea was restored into a kingdom. The construction of the International Space Elevator at Selatapura[7] and increasing IUN presence on Usea caused tensions to rise with the Osean Federation. This culminated in the Lighthouse War, which Erusea ultimately lost.
• Amber: Amber, officially the Republic of Amber, is a country located in western Usea near the Federal Republic of Erusea. Due to the location of the Amber Mountains near Usea's western seaboard, it can be extrapolated that Amber's territory either encompasses the mountain range or is bordered by it.
• Delarus: Delarus is a small country located somewhere in northern Usea. Its exact location is never specified.
• Ugellas: Ugellas, officially known as the Independent State of Ugellas, is a country located in western Usea. Ugellas purportedly shares a border with the Republic of Amber and the Federal Republic of Erusea.
• Bulgurdarest: Bulgurdarest, also known as Borgo dell'Est, is a nation located on the eastern region of the Usean continent. The nation has close ties to the Osean Federation.
• Selatapura: Selatapura is a sovereign coastal city-state located on the Gunther Peninsula in southwestern Usea. The city was formerly part of the Erusean Republic and is physically connected to the International Space Elevator by a bridge. After gaining its independence, people and corporations from across the world came to Selatapura due to foreign investment, making it a place of geopolitical importance.

Two known historic nations are:

• Shilage: Shilage, formerly the Grand Duchy of Shilage, is a state in eastern Erusea. It is neighboured by the former Republic of Voslage and other unknown Erusean states. The landscape of Shilage features wide open plains of grass with dense forests covering a lot of the terrain. The buildings found in Shilage appear to have been built during the medieval era, as the houses and large structures across the state appear to constructed out of stone. Surrounded by the largest town in Shilage is Shilage Castle. The citizens of Shilage openly expressed their desire for independence from Erusean rule The nation was annexed by the Kingdom of Erusea sometime during the 1900s, but was able to establish self-proclaimed independence during the Erusean power struggle following Operation Giant's Step.[3] It is unknown whether Shilage retained its independence following the power struggle.
• Voslage: Voslage, formerly the Republic of Voslage, is a state in eastern Erusea. It is neighboured by the former Grand Duchy of Shilage and other unknown Erusean states. Due to its proximity to Shilage, the citizens of Voslage often collaborated and became interdependent.[3] Many citizens of Voslage desired for their nation to become independent from Erusea.

Verusa

The Verusan continent is one of the main continents of the Strangereal world. It is situated west of the Osean continent, south of Anea, and east of Usea. It is home to one of the world's leading superpowers, the Union of Yuktobanian Republics. It has several countries, encompassing:

• Yuktobania: Yuktobania, officially known as the Union of Yuktobanian Republics, is an international superpower and the largest nation on the Verusan continent, encompassing the majority of the continent's north. It shares a land border with Kaluga, Verusa and a number of other countries, and is separated from Emmeria and Estovakia by the Fuscum Sea. Its capital, Cinigrad, is located within the nation's northern highlands. Yuktobania is a highly developed nation that possesses a large population, industrialized economy, and a well-outfitted military force. The country is also regarded for its many advancements in aerospace technology, submersible engineering, and ballistic missile weaponry.
  • Yuktobanian Republic of Romny: Romny, officially known as the Republic of Romny, is a member nation of the Union of Yuktobanian Republics. Not much is known about the country, its location within Yuktobania is not annotated on any map.
• Verusa: Verusa is a Strangereal country in the continent of Verusa, south of Yuktobania and bordered by unnamed nations to the south and west.
  
• Sotoa: Sotoa is a nation located in the western region of the Verusan continent, located southwest of Yuktobania. Sotoa is bordered by other unnamed countries, and the equator passes through the country. The Eusian Ocean is located to Sotoa's west.
• Kaluga: Kaluga, officially known as the Republic of Kaluga, is a nation located in southern Verusa. Kaluga's only known border is with Yuktobania to the north.

Wellow

Wellow is a Strangereal continent that shares its name with the Republic of Wellow, a large nation that occupies the entirety of the continent. Wellow is located directly north of the Osean continent and is a permanently neutral nation, akin to Nordennavic. Not much is known about Wellow except that there is only one nation that exists there:

• Wellow: In 1985, a flight of unidentified aircraft entered the airspace north of the Principality of Belka and was shot down by the Belkan Air Force's Silber Team. No further details are known about this event, but it came to be known as the Wellow Incident; whether Wellow was involved or not remains unclear. In 2007, Wellow was selected to host the annual G7 Summit, a meeting of the world's most powerful nations to discuss international issues. A neutral, "borderless" area of open water off the coast of Wellow was ultimately chosen as the meeting site. However, the summit was immediately canceled after an attempted terrorist attack occurred in a nearby bay.

Technology

The Strangereal world's technology level is roughly comparable to 21st Century Earth. There are a few Superweapons, but most combat is performed with conventional weapons, and highly advanced aircraft. The technology levels of air combat are considerably higher than the level we know of today, because air combat started much, much earlier, in 1905. Certain events, such as the Ulysses Meteor crash in 1999, have precipitated rapid technological development.
