Principality of Zeon

Principality of Zeon Flag.

When Zeon Zum Deikun, the leader of the Republic, became gravely ill in UC 0068, he mentioned only one name on his deathbed: "Degwin Zabi." The people of Side 3 took this to mean that Deikun was naming Degwin to succeed him as leader of the Republic in that year. After being appointed as the leader of the Republic of Zeon, Degwin Zabi adopted the title of Sodo, meaning "Lord," and was referred to from them on as Degwin Sodo Zabi. Seizing control of the government, Degwin maintained the only way for the colonies to be independent of the Earth Federation was for the Principality to fight (though in reality, Side 3 was already independent of Earth at that time). To this end, Degwin appointed his children into military and political offices and pushed for rapid development of military technology.
Gihren Zabi, the eldest of the Zabi children, remained at his father's side as his aide, achieving Admiral's rank and eventually became the Supreme Commander of the Zeon Armed Forces in place of his father. Dozle Zabi, the second eldest son of the Zabi family, became Vice-Admiral and the Commander of the Space Attack Force, responsible for overseeing fleet movements within the Principality and for securing territory. Kycilia Zabi, a Rear Admiral, shared command of the Zeon Space Attack Force with her brother Dozle, which led to conflicts between the two as she operated from the lunar city of Granada. Garma Zabi, the youngest of the Zabi family, was placed in command of the Zeon Earth Attack Force.
With the backing of the Principality of Zeon's new leadership, technological breakthroughs were made in many fields of research. One of the largest developments was that of mobile suit technology, which initially intended for colony construction found military applications. Research by Doctor Minovsky led to the discovery of the Minovsky Particle and the Minovsky Particle Effect, which allowed for the development of further technology, such as the Minovsky Craft System. Supported by Kycilia Zabi, research into the growing phenomenon led to the classification and discovery of Newtypes, and with it her support of the development of Newtype-based military units. Negotiations with the Earth Federation finally broke down in UC 0079, leading to the Principality of Zeon (re)declaring its independence from the Earth Federation and at the same time declaring war on the Federation.

Zabi Family

The Zabi family (collectively known as the Zabis) was a Spacenoid family originating from Side 3 whose members played influential roles in the Universal Century from at least the late 0050s (when Degwin Sodo Zabi aligned himself with Zeon Zum Deikun) to the middle 0090s (when Mineva Lao Zabi uncovered Laplace's Box). This family was most noted for once being the founding royal family of the Principality of Zeon, and is considered infamous by many people of the Earth Sphere for the ruthless and despotic actions that were chosen by the family members when in power before and during the One Year War.

Space Attack Force

The Space Attack Force is a faction in the Universal Century. One of the three principal branches of the Principality of Zeon's military, it was commanded by Vice Admiral Dozle Zabi. The Space Attack Force was made up of six battle fleets, which provide the bulk of the Principality's space power. Dozle's headquarters were at the asteroid fortress Solomon, which served as a frontline base for the Space Attack Force. Early in the conflict the Space Attack Force emphasized traditional tactics and weapons over "newfangled gimmicks" like mobile suits. This began to shift after the One Week Battle in which the need for mobile suits was proven and the Space Attack Force formed numerous mobile suit squadrons.

Black Tri-Stars

Black Tri-Stars.

Officially known as the Mobile Assault Force 7th Division 1st Mobile Suit Battalion Headquarters attached Special Duties Squad, the history of the Black Tri-Stars began in May, U.C. 0076, when then-Colonel Kycilia Zabi of the Republic of Zeon military formed the Mobile Training Battalion, an experimental unit created to establish mobile suit tactics.[1][2] Then-Sergeant Gaia, Sergeant Major Ortega, and then-Sergeant Major Mash were all members of the Mobile Training Battalion 2nd Squadron D Squad, piloting MS-05B Zaku I painted in dark sea blue, making them some of Zeon's earliest mobile suit pilots. At this point, they were not yet on the same team.

Cyclops Team

Cyclops Team.

The "Cyclops Team" was the nickname for a Zeon special operations unit consisting of around twelve members, all of which were trained in a variety of skills, including mobile suit piloting and espionage, and able to adapt to a wide variety of situations. In March, U.C. 0079, the Cyclops Team departed from Granada with the 1st Terrestrial Mobile Division and participated in the First Landing Operation, making landfall at Europe. They acted as vanguard to the main force, disrupting communications, capturing bridges, and throwing the Earth Federation Forces into chaos. However, due to the harshness of their missions, the rate of attrition was high.

Southern Cross Corps

Southern Cross Corps.

A mobile suit unit of the Zeon army once led by Cucuruz Doan. After Doan's departure, Egba Atler took over the command of the unit, and it was assigned to the Moroccan front. In Morocco, the unit is nicknamed the "Brown Southern Cross" because of its successes, to the extent that it is said to be able to support the front line with a single unit. As the name suggests, the unit emblem is based on the Southern Cross constellation, with five stars arranged around a central cross. The unit emblem also serves as the personal mark of each member, and the position of the highlighted star is different for each member of the unit.

Axis Zeon

Axis Zeon.

Axis Zeon (or simply Axis) were remnant members of the Principality of Zeon who retreated to the giant asteroid base Axis, after the end of the One Year War. Axis Zeon is also known as the first Neo Zeon movement.
Co-developed by the Principality and the Lunar Industrial Federation in Universal Year 0072 as a waypoint for the Jupiter Energy Fleet, the Axis base was built under strict secrecy. Like A Baoa Qu and Solomon, it is built atop an asteroid, allowing it to serve as a mobile base. Unlike the other two bases, which were sent to the Earth sphere, Axis remained hidden in the asteroid belt during the One Year War.
At the end of the War, when the Principality became the Republic of Zeon and formally stepped down its offensive, nearly half of the remaining Zeon forces disobeyed orders and fled the Earth sphere. These Zeon loyalist, including Zabi family loyalist, regrouped at the Axis base, where they could rebuild and reorganize in secrecy. Even the great Char Aznable made Axis his new home.

The Glemy Faction is a splinter group of the first Neo Zeon Movement created and lead by Glemy Toto with the intention of relieving Haman Karn of her power and position as leader of Neo Zeon, and reviving Zeon under the rightful rule of the Zabi Family.
