X-Men Mutates

A mutate is a being who acquired a physical characteristic through exposure to one or more mutagenic agents such as chemicals or radiation. Superhumans who were not born with the potential to access their innate superhuman powers are mutates.

Mutates are typically characters that have been somehow genetically mutated in order to attain their superhuman abilities, for example by exposure to magic, radiation or toxic waste, through the bite of a genetically-engineered spider, et cetera.

Human mutates are sometimes called altered human[1] or non-mutant variant.[2]

• Note: Mutants that were given a Genoshan Mutate number, or used one to conceal their identity were called "Mutates".

Savage Land Mutates

The Savage Land Mutates were originally human inhabitants that were created by the mutant Magneto. They clash with the X-men and Ka-Zar on many occasions. On one occasion, they turned Spider-Man into the Man-Spider and Angel into a bird monster. They have came into conflict with the Avengers on occasions also. Although the group is fairly large they have only appeared with half of the group on each occasion they are seen. The entire group has never appeared together at one time.
