Bardos Island

Bardos is a fictional island located in the Mediterranean Sea. It once held the Mycenae Empire, a pre-Greek civilization that somehow managed to build 20 meter robots to protect themselves (until they were invaded by the Emperor of Darkness and the Great General of Darkness). It is located in the so-called Mazinger World.

Description

Before becoming Dr. Hell's base, the ruins on the island featured rooms filled with giant robots. After Dr. Hell made his base; he added a command room to observe events that unfolded, a Mechanical Beast manufacturing plant for building the Mechanical Beasts, a hanger for the Mechanical Beasts, and executive room for training the combatants. The beaches on the island are used for testing the Mechanical Beasts before they are sent out into battle. A hangar for the Gool also exists.
Bardos contains a laboratory used by a Kedora-controlled Kenzo Kabuto to produce the Mechanical Beasts and other mechanical soldiers. It also features a docking area for the mobile fortresses. It is also capable of movement across the ocean.

History

Milennia before the series began, Bardos was once where gigantic cyborg aliens used as a base for operations. The humans worshipped the aliens as Gods, one of them Zeus took an interest in them, breaking ties from his original home. Hades plotted to rebel against Zeus for control of the island, but in a failed assassination attempt had his body destroyed. Hades came back as the flaming entity Emperor of Darkness and sunk the island under tides with his power.
When Bardos resurfaced due to tidal changes, the island was found by a team composed of Dr. Hell, Tsubasa Nishikiori, Juzo and Kenzo Kabuto, along with Tetsuya Tsurugi. On the island, were the ancient but advanced technology of the Mycenae Empire. Dr. Hell revealed his intentions of world domination, but Tsubasa knew about this and used explosives set around the island to blow up Bardos.
However, Dr. Hell survived and remade Bardos into his personal image. For most of the series, Bardos would be seen as Dr. Hell would make his move. At times, members of the Mycenae Empire such as Archduke Gorgon attempted to reclaim the island but were stopped. Dr. Hell then had the island move towards Japan for a final assault on the Photon Power Laboratory, until he was killed and the Mycenae Empire came up from below the island.

Technology

Doctor Hell's Invincible Mechabeast and Phantom Beast army. Mechanical Beasts are the robotic troops originally used by the Mycenae Empire back when the large Mechanical Gods landed on Earth, they were uncovered and later used by Dr. Hell in his plot for world domination.
The Mechanical Beasts stand over 20 meters tall and are armed with a variety of weapons such as missiles, blades, and beams. They were originally controlled by the biomechanical Kedora which gave the Mechanical Beasts a vicious battle nature. Alternatively, they can be controlled by commands from certain individuals like Archduke Gorgon. After Dr. Hell uncovered them, he had a brainwashed Kenzo Kabuto reprogram the robots with an AI that had them function as if they were driven by instinct. Dr. Hell could control the Mechanical Beasts through a special rod that was regularly given to Baron Ashura.
The Mechanical Beasts originally came as foot soldiers for the Mechanical Gods as they came to Earth to set it up as a strategic point for an intergalactic war. However, Zeus broke ties with his old home after getting a liking to the native humans. Hades in a plan to take control of the Mycenae Empire, used Mechanical Beasts to try and overthrow Zeus but failed with his body destroyed. But Hades' soul sunk Bardos into the sea, never to be seen for thousands of years. Dr. Hell and a few colleagues later discovered the Mechanical Beasts sealed behind a statue of Zeus among other Mycenae artifacts. Taking control of Kenzo, Dr. Hell has him reconstruct the Mechanical Beasts for his plans of world domination.
